Our Mandates

The objectives of the library are in tandem with the UNESCO manifesto (1994) for public libraries around the world, which includes to.

  1. Reach and influence the entire community through the library’s vision, services, programs, and resources

  2. Continuously improve collections to meet the immediate needs of the community and to provide a solid foundation for future development.

  3. Support and participate in literacy activities and programmes for all age groups, and initiating such activities if necessary

  4. Create and strengthen reading habits in children from an early age.

  5. Stimulate the imagination and creativity of children and young people

  6. Act as a local centre of information making all kinds of knowledge and information readily available to its users

  7. Support both individual and self conducted education as well as formal education at all levels.

  8. Promote awareness of cultural heritage, appreciation of the arts, scientific achievements and innovations.

  9. Provide opportunities for personal creative development

  10. Provide adequate information services to local enterprises, associations and interest groups
